Have you ever been in a situation where you suddenly are confronted with a piece of data or information that is absolutely reliable AND contradicts what you know to be true? I don’t know about you, but I HATE it when that happens. I have often contemplated how I could be certain about something that I had “made up”. Well, it turns out I am not alone – we all do this! This episode was called “What You Don’t Know” and talked about how our brain looks at the world, picks out the things it knows and then fills in the gaps with guesses – and we can’t necessarily tell the difference between what we really know and what our mind has put into the gaps. Sort of scary, isn’t it?
