Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation recently that increases funding for the Pure Michigan campaign.
“The Pure Michigan campaign delivers results,” Snyder said. “It is an investment that provides a positive return on our tax dollars by fueling tourism statewide. When we tell the rest of the country what Michigan is all about, it is clear that vacationers and job providers begin to see our state as the place to live, work and play.”
Pure Michigan is ranked among the top 10 tourism campaigns of all time by Forbes magazine. Award winning radio and television promotions highlight Michigan as a travel destination and has gathered nationwide praise since its beginning five years ago.
The new law provides a more permanent funding stream and adds $10 million to the current campaign appropriation of $15 million for this fiscal year. A recent study shows that the state receives $3 of revenue for every dollar spent on Pure Michigan. Sounds like it was an easy decision for the new governor to make.
