Acronyms and Abbreviations

A quick definition of an Acronym – a word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words.  For example, CFO, as in Chief Financial Officer.   Some people just call them abbreviations.  I thought it would be fun to see if you can guess what some acronyms stand for.  I am sure there are some you have seen before, but I’d bet there are some you never heard of.

EBITDA – Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation & Amortization
FIFO – First In, First Out
GAAP – Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
GIGO – Garbage In, Garbage Out
HTTP – Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol
ICE – In Case of Emergency
KPI – Key Performance Indicators
MBO – Management By Objectives
7S – Skills, Strategy, Structure, Style, Systems, Staff, Shared values
SOHO – Small Office, Home Office
TIC – Taken Into Consideration or Tongue In Cheek
